Who can apply?
According to the Estonian Aliens Act, a long-stay (D) visa can be applied for in a number of circumstances such as study, work or family relations. Person can apply for a D-visa if it is proved that the need to stay in Estonia is more than 90 days in 180 day period. D-visa may be issued for the period of stay of up to 365 days within twelve consecutive months.
A long-stay visa must be applied for in person at an Estonian representation which handles visa applications or at a service point of the Police and Border Guard Board in Estonia. If there is no Estonian representation that handles long-stay visa applications in the applicant’s country of residence, the application should be submitted to an Estonian representation accredited to that country or submitted to the nearest Estonian representation issuing visas. NB! In such cases, it is necessary to confirm the appointment in advance with the Estonian representation, where the application will be submitted.
The Government of the Republic of Estonia has approved a sanction imposing a restriction on citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus applying for an Estonian visa.
