The Embassy of Estonia in Cairo hosted a Regional Honorary Consuls Meeting for the year 2026 on 14–15 October 2026, bringing together Estonia’s honorary consuls in the region to strengthen cooperation, exchange experiences, and discuss matters of mutual interest.
The meeting brought together Dr. Amer Al Rawas, Honorary Consul of Estonia in the Sultanate of Oman; Mr. Fouad Fadel, Honorary Consul of Estonia in Lebanon; Mr. Ayman Jumean, Honorary Consul of Estonia in Jordan; Mr. Moussa Diabaté, Honorary Consul of Estonia in Mali; and Mr. Motaz Raslan, Honorary Consul of Estonia in Egypt, alongside with the representatives of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, embassy diplomats, and consular section assistants.
The discussions covered a range of consular, commercial, and cultural matters of shared interest, with particular attention to strengthening bilateral relations, exploring opportunities for trade and business cooperation, promoting cultural exchange, and addressing consular issues and challenges. Special emphasis was placed on the welfare and support of Estonian citizens residing in or travelling to the countries represented at the meeting.
On 14 October, participants visited the Grand Egyptian Museum, where they had the opportunity to explore Egypt’s rich historical and cultural heritage. In the evening, H.E. Ambassador Ingrid Amer hosted a dinner at her residence, providing an opportunity for further dialogue and the strengthening of professional and personal ties.
On 15 October, the programme continued at the new Estonian Embassy in Cairo with a series of meetings with officials from Estonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Discussions included an exchange with Ms Kairi Künka, responsible for honorary consuls at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr Priit Kallakas, Director General of the Business Diplomacy Department; and Ambassador Lauri Kuusing, Director General of the Department of Asia, Pacific Region, Middle East and Africa. A separate consular meeting with Consul Liis Rosenfeldt and consular assistants addressed current consular matters and challenges affecting Estonian citizens in the region.
To conclude two days of productive exchange, Mr. Motaz Raslan, Honorary Consul of Estonia in Egypt, hosted a dinner in the evening for all participants.
